Blackpool Entertainment Contest
In February the Wardle Academy Intermediate Band travelled to Blackpool to take part in the Blackpool Entertainment Contest. They performed really well and won three prizes: Fourth Place in Music, Best March and Band with the Most Potential.
Rochdale Music Festival
All of our musical groups performed fantastically at the Rochdale Music Festival at the Town Hall this week. They all received honours and represented the school fantastically.
On Friday March 18th, Wardle Academy hosted their Easter musical evening. The event was a great success with fantastic performances from nearly all of our musical groups including the Show Band, Folk Group, the cast of ‘We Will Rock You’, the Wind Band, the Wardle Tooters, Intermediate Band and the Wardle Youth Band. Thank you to all the hard work of the staff, volunteers and students who made the night run as well as it did.
Music for Youth
On Saturday March 19th, Wardle Academy hosted the regional qualifier for the Music for Youth festival, the largest youth music festival in the world. Musical groups from range of styles enter the competition which is judged to a high standard. Those groups that enter have the opportunity to progress to the next stage. The event was throughout the day with Wardle Academy entering a number of musical groups into the competition. A lot of our Feeder primary schools entered their bands as well, including our partner primary school, Kentmere Academy. The competition was tough and all the groups performed brilliantly. Feedback from the judges has been positive and we eagerly look forward to finding out the results later in the year.
