Recently, students from Wardle Academy’s Performing Arts Groups were given the opportunity to take part in special rehearsals and sectionals lead by leading trombonist and conductor, Brett Baker. Brett Baker is the programme leader for Musical Arts at the University of Salford, a leading Trombone soloist, recording artist for Michael Rath Brass Instruments, and past-Principal Trombone for the Black Dyke Band. Brett is viewed as one of Europe’s leading brass performers and educators.
Students from the school’s performing arts groups were given the expert tuition from Brett on a number of pieces. The group performed both together and in sectionals with Brett providing key advice and instruction to the young performers.
The afternoon was well received and our students were able to showcase what they learnt during the session at Musical Evening on Friday 1st July and whilst performing at the Birmingham Symphony Hall for Music for Youth on Thursday 7th July.
We would also like to say congratulations and a massive thank you to Laura Conway, Skye Wilson and Robin Chicot who received certificates for seven years’ of service to the Wardle Academy Bands. What a fantastic achievement!
