Wardle Academy’s Day of Celebration – Monday 9th July 2018

On Monday 9th July 2018 we held a ‘Celebration Day’ for all of our students to celebrate how well they have done over the academic year. The day included students taking part in a number of different fun indoor and outdoor activities and competitions run by the PE department. The activities included ‘It’s A Knock Out’ and ‘Sports Day’.

‘It’s A Knock Out’ involved a circuit of inflatable games/obstacles in which form groups battled with each other in a number of competitions. We were extremely pleased that all of our students got involved in some sort of way. The atmosphere around the school was incredible and there were lots of spectators cheering on every form. Even our teachers got involved. Mr Hemmings said “I think it’s going well and we are going to smash it.” Deputy Head, Mr Skurr said “Fantastic to see participation from students. This is a great opportunity for students to be in their forms and with tutors and the event was organised brilliantly.”

It wasn’t just ‘It’s A Knock Out’ going on through the day there were tons of other activities going on too. There were a number of fitness activities including rowing, rounders, football, netball, tug of war and dodgeball.  A group of Year 9 students said “It’s a great day, it brings everyone together and builds up teamwork and friendship.” Mr Kelly said: “It’s going very well, very competitive but the students are very well behaved.”

Headteacher, Mrs Fisher said: “This is a wonderfully inclusive event, it is great that everyone can be involved and enjoy themselves. It is lovely to see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves and I would like to say thank you to Miss Shepherd and the PE department for organising such a brilliant event.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and we are extremely pleased with how our students have acted. We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our students and teachers who were involved in organising the whole day. Here are some photographs from the day.
