Year 8 have been encouraging students, parents and carers to bring in food for the Rochdale Food Bank, helping those in need in the borough. Lots of donations came in and on Friday 21st October Mrs Johnston, Mrs Whitehead and three Year 8 students took the food up to Rochdale Food Bank.
The Year 8 students, Jack W, Emily B and Elise B impressed the volunteers with their enthusiasm, smartness, questioning and the interest they showed in the workings of the food bank. They were a credit to the school and to their parents/carers.
The Rochdale Food Bank told Mrs Johnston that they are always in need of more volunteers and there are some foodstuffs that they need more than others. Mrs Johnston and the Year 8 students promised to do another collection in November, encouraging students to donate the foodstuffs that they particularly need. This will include products such as small jars of coffee, instant mash and maybe a few treats around Christmas. We’ll keep you updated with more information on this nearer the time.
