Religious Studies
Overview
The teaching of Religious Education reflects current legislation as outlined in relevant Education Acts, DFES circulars, and the Rochdale Agreed Syllabus for R.E. As per the 1988 Education Reform Act, Religious Education (RE) makes a significant contribution to the personal development of young people.
KS3 students study RE as part of their curriculum. At KS4 students can choose RE as one of their options to take to GCSE.
Religious Education hugely contributes to promoting the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of students. Through provoking challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God and the issues of right and wrong; students are given the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding through an ‘enquiries’ approach in line with the SACRE recommendation.
