Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

At Wardle Academy, we recognise that good emotional wellbeing is essential for children and young people to thrive. We are committed to supporting our learners’ mental health and work closely with families and external services to ensure that support is available when it is needed.

If you are concerned about your child’s emotional wellbeing or mental health, we encourage you to contact the academy in the first instance. Our pastoral and SEND teams will be happy to discuss your concerns and help identify the most appropriate support.

If You Need Urgent Help

If you believe your child is at immediate risk of harm or requires urgent medical attention, please call 999 or attend your nearest Accident and Emergency (A&E) department.

For urgent mental health advice, you can also contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option.

#Thrive – Healthy Young Minds

Wardle Academy works in partnership with #Thrive – Healthy Young Minds, an NHS-funded service that supports the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people living in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.

#Thrive offers early help for young people experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, emotional regulation or other wellbeing concerns. The service also provides advice and guidance for parents, carers and professionals.

Support may include:

  • One-to-one emotional wellbeing support
  • Counselling and therapeutic interventions
  • Group programmes
  • Online resources
  • Advice and guidance for parents and carers
  • Signposting to local community services and activities

Parents and carers can access support directly through #Thrive, and referrals can also be discussed with the academy where appropriate.
