At Wardle Academy, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where every learner is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We recognise that learners have different strengths and needs, and we work collaboratively with families, staff and external professionals to ensure that appropriate support is provided when required. High-quality teaching is the foundation of our approach, with additional support and targeted provision available where needed to help remove barriers to learning.

Parents and carers are an important part of this process. We believe that working together helps us to understand each learner’s individual needs and provide the most effective support throughout their time at the academy.

Identifying and Supporting SEND

We aim to identify additional needs as early as possible. Concerns may be raised by parents and carers, academy staff, the learner themselves or other professionals.

When additional needs are identified, we follow a graduated approach to support. This involves assessing needs, planning appropriate provision, reviewing progress and adapting support where necessary. We work closely with families throughout this process and, where appropriate, seek advice from specialist external services to ensure learners receive the right support at the right time.

Our Approach

Support at Wardle Academy is personalised and based on individual need. Depending on a learner’s circumstances, this may include:

• Advice and involvement from external professionals where appropriate.
• Adaptive teaching within the classroom.
• Targeted interventions.
• Support from specialist staff.
• Access to appropriate resources or assistive technology.

Working in Partnership

We work alongside a range of professionals, including health, education and local authority services, to ensure learners receive coordinated support where appropriate.

For learners with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), we work closely with families and professionals to review progress and ensure provision continues to meet individual needs.

Wardle Academy is committed to ensuring that all learners can access education and participate fully in academy life. We provide an accessible learning environment and make reasonable adjustments to support learners’ individual needs wherever possible.
