Author Visit Dan Ingram-Brown
On Friday 25/06/21, our Year 7 students were treated to a day of spectacular creativity and introduced to the wonderful children’s author, Mr Dan Brown! The writer spoke to the students about his upcoming release, Bea’s Witch, and helped them to explore the magic and mystery of it’s very famous setting, Mother Shipton’s Cave.
Creator of the fantastic new coming-of-age novel, Dan led the students through a day which began with an introduction to the story of Beatrice and how she came to encounter the ghost of England’s most famous prophetess. Year 7 learned of Bea’s haunting encounter and explored Dan’s exciting use of figurative language to create and build the enchanting setting.
In the second half of the day, students this time took to pen and paper to start creating their very own engaging creative writing with a focus on establishing setting; Dan’s brilliant workshop walked students through building worlds which captivate the reader and stimulate the imagination in order to interest and excite!
Wardle Academy were absolutely thrilled to open our doors to Mr Brown and cannot wait until his next visit!
