Black History Month – Saluting Our Sisters
October 2023 marks Black History Month – the theme this year is ‘Saluting our Sisters’. Our first assembly theme is ‘Why is it important to have a Black History Month?’
In honour of BHM, once with each of our classes in the Wardle Why, we are sharing one ‘sister’ of historical significance to our subject areas. For example, History may look at Rosa Parks and her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, English may look at Maya Angelou for her large body of writing works or Drama may look at Viola Davis for her contributions to TV and film.
Our students are excited to learn more about Black History in each subject over the next month.
