Wardle Academy Alumni – Dr Elizabeth Hildrew

Dr Elizabeth Hildrew – Foundation Year 1 Doctor at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
We are shining a spotlight on Elizabeth Hildrew, a former Wardle Academy student and current first year doctor.

Life at Wardle Academy
Whilst at Wardle, Elizabeth was a talented musician and particularly enjoyed performing with the Wardle Wind Band. She achieved her ABRSM Grade 8 Flute qualification at just age 14. Elizabeth accredits this wonderful achievement in part to the support and belief of Mrs Conway who helped her reach this goal.
Mrs Conway was a great support who always believed in me. I don’t think I would have achieved my qualification without her encouragement.
Life after Wardle Academy
After leaving Wardle Academy, Elizabeth went on to study A-Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology at Rochdale Sixth Form College. She achieved excellent grades with an A in Maths, A in Chemistry and B in Biology. After college, Elizabeth studied Medicine at Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

She is currently working as a doctor at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, undertaking her first year of the Foundation Training Programme. Next year, Elizabeth will complete her final year of the two-year rotation.
