Commemorating Remembrance Day 2024
‘When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.’
On Remembrance Day our cornet players Joe, Harry, Holly, Eddie and Robyn played The Last Post for our 2-minute silence and on Remembrance Sunday our Youth Band and Intermediate Band performed at the Wardle remembrance service.
We also held our annual Remembrance Concert where our Intermediate Band were joined by Wardle Community Brass Band and Wardle Anderson Brass. All of our talented musicians sounded fantastic and were a lovely tribute to the fallen and all those lost in armed conflict. The concert also raised money for the Royal British Legion to further the wonderful work they do for veterans.
It was great to see so many people turn out to support such an important occasion. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed and helped raise money for such a worthy cause.
On Remembrance Sunday, we held our annual Remembrance Parade where Mr Glennie, Mrs Butterworth and Mrs Doney were joined by Wardle students, Millie and Jayda, to lay the wreath at the Cenotaph. We were also joined by the Mayor of Whitworth who walked alongside our students and staff to commemorate the fallen at the Cenotaph.
The Wardle band performed along the way, marching from Wardle village square to the Cenotaph. They played hymns and finished with a poignant and powerful performance of The Last Post.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part in these services – well done!
