Tough Cookies
This half term Year 7 students have enjoyed participating in a series of excellent sessions delivered by Tough Cookies, focusing on supporting students in developing their knowledge of their own bodies and health. The sessions also focused on sex and relationship education. To ensure students have the skills and knowledge required to live safe and healthier lives.
Sessions they took part in were;
Ask a stupid question!
This workshop provided young people with the chance to ask any questions they would like to know the answers to about becoming a teen and growing up. Before the drop down day, students had the chance to submit questions which they then explored in an open and honest discussion.
Puberty and periods
Students took part in a fun quiz revisiting their learning about puberty from KS2.
They also developed their understanding around periods including managing periods and looking at how to use and dispose of pads, tampons, period pants and menstrual cups.
Sexplained
In this talk students learnt to develop their understanding of the reproductive system.
They learnt about body autonomy and the correct scientific terminology of the reproductive system and genitalia, they also learnt about what is sexual intercourse and safeguarding laws.
Body Positivitee!
Students learnt about taking care of their bodies and keeping themselves healthy. This session explored peer pressures, body image, confidence and self care.
Getting Help and Helping Others
Young people learned where they can get further advice and information and understand when it is important to seek help for themselves or others and how they can speak to a trusted adult. They learnt about the meaning of confidentiality, and about services such as Childline and CEOP.
