Virtual Tour of Neeli Mosque, Rochdale
Year 7 students at Wardle Academy were given a virtual tour of Neeli Blue Mosque. The Imam led a question and answer session and helped students understand the importance of the Mosque as a central point of worship.
Students in year 7 have been studying a scheme of learning relating to the importance of religious buildings to different faith communities and took the opportunity to raise the central questions generated through their studies.
The Imam offered insightful answers, helped illustrate the importance of charity within the Islamic community and discussed the challenges presented for collective worship in the wake of a pandemic.
The amazing tour of the Mosque examined key features such as the minaret, the dome and the minbar.
“I have always wanted to know what a Mosque looked like inside. I found the experience really interesting and enjoyed learning how Neeli Mosque collected charity to supported the Rochdale Foodbank. Hopefully in future I might get the chance to visit the Mosque in person.”
