Wardle Alumni Sandro Ballesteros Crowned National Endurance Racing Champion!
Wardle Academy is thrilled to celebrate the incredible success of alumnus Alessandro “Sandro” Ballesteros, who was recently crowned the BRSCC 2025 Clubman Class A Champion in the highly competitive Supersport Endurance Cup.
Sandro, aged eighteen, attended the prestigious BRSCC presentation evening to accept his championship trophy.
A Season of Grit and Determination
Sandro contested seven intense two-hour races this season in his race-spec Audi TT. Despite a frustrating start to the year plagued with gearbox issues, he showcased remarkable resilience, finishing with an impressive run of form, including a fourth consecutive win at Silverstone in the final round to seal the Class A title.
His impressive performance earned him a second trophy at the event: overall runner-up in the entire series. He shared the grid with experienced UK racing legends, including Colin Turkington, Rob Boston, Paul Sheard, and Tim Harvey.
An Autism Hero on the Fast Track
Sandro is an inspiration both on and off the track. An Autism Hero Award recipient, he has raced karts since the age of five, winning his first Championship at the age of seven. His journey was also featured in the CBBC/iPlayer documentary “My Life on the Fast Track,” which followed his transition into race cars at just fourteen.
Continuing his dedication to the community, Sandro hosts Autism-friendly karting sessions at his local indoor kart track, Teamkarting.
Entrepreneurship and Future Dreams
Sandro left Rochdale Sixth Form College earlier this year after studying A-levels to concentrate on building his print business, Graph X Studio, which he initially founded to help fund his racing career.
Reflecting on his incredible journey, Sandro shared:
“I am not really sure what happens next in 2026, but we are so proud of what we have achieved. We are such a long way from where we started, and that’s thanks to everyone who has ever backed or helped me… and of course my parents who have worked so hard to give me opportunities to chase my dreams. Hopefully, we can find the backing to keep progressing, although the step up to GT cars is pretty big in financial terms, I would give that chance my absolute best. It has always been my dream to drive in the 24hr Le Mans.”
