Wardle Alumni Sandro Races to Success as Budding Motorsport Star
Sandro Ballesteros – A Level Student at Rochdale Sixth Form College and Motorsports Athlete
We are highlighting the wonderful achievements of Sandro Ballesteros, a former Wardle Academy student and current A Level student at Rochdale Sixth Form College. Sandro is also pursuing an exciting career in motorsports.
Life at Wardle
At the beginning of his time at Wardle, Sandro struggled with autism and the anxiety of transitioning to a new school away from his primary school friends. Sandro highlighted the support of his teachers at Wardle, notably Mr Dawson and Mrs Winnard, who encouraged him to achieve his potential. His strong friendship group helped Sandro to overcome his anxieties and settle into school.
Sandro’s life outside of school was far from that of a regular teenager. Between training as a budding motorsport athlete and appearing in a CBBC documentary, ‘My Life on the Fast Track’, Sandro’s life was jam packed.
The documentary followed his journey from karts to racing cars and his inspiring work as an award winning autism ambassador.
Life After Wardle
Sandro achieved the grades he had aimed for and went on to study History, Media Studies and Theology, Philosophy and Ethics at Rochdale Sixth Form College.
Currently, Sandro is in his second year of college, preparing to take his A Level exams in the coming months.
Alongside his studies, Sandro continues to make excellent progress with his racing. In 2024, Sandro achieved third place at a championship in his first year of two-hour endurance races.
He was also invited to speak and share his experiences at The British Motor Show on a Youth in Motorsport panel.
Sandro’s involvement in the particularly costly world of motorsport has inspired his business venture, Graph X Studio, a print shop based in Rochdale.
On completing his A Levels, Sandro looks forward to further studies in Marketing. He hopes to use his expertise to build a successful personal brand, essential for his career as a motorsport athlete and as a businessman.
