Wardle on the BBC!
Wardle Academy students were lucky enough to be invited to a joint event held today at Hollingworth Academy. The event by the BBC was part of their Celebration of Heritage Crafts Event. They held an in-person Q&A with British furniture restorer and television presenter of the BBC Repair Shop Jay Blades. The event was filmed by BBC North West Tonight and was broadcast in the evening at 6.30pm.
Jay talked about his career journey and how he is passionate about preserving skills for the future for crafts that are in danger of being extinct. The event was live-streamed to 850 schools across the UK as part of The BBCs Educational Supplement. Our students asked Jay questions about his most challenging item he has repaired, while other schools asked various questions about his career and advice for young people interested in pursuing the Arts and Crafts area.
