Overview
This qualification is designed for learners who are interested in dance and have some prior practical experience. The course will appeal to learners who wish to pursue a career in the Performing Arts industry.
Students will receive a well-rounded and full introduction to the world of Dance, by developing an understanding of how dance performances are choreographed. They will acquire the knowledge that underpins effective use of skills, processes and attitudes in the Performing Arts sector. This course will also enable students to develop their physical, social and mental health, creativity, teamwork skills, critical thinking, self-discipline and the ability to work collaboratively. Students will be provided with a creative outlet for ideas and feelings, allowing them to express themselves. Students will learn to accept and understand that performers move differently and that this originality should be embraced. The course will also be tailored to individual needs and include both practical and theoretical content.
Away from the classroom, this course will give students the confidence to take part in extra curricular activities such as regional/national dance competitions and musical theatre productions. The qualification will also promote the development of a range of personal skills, helping to equip students for life beyond school.
