Watergrove Virtual Reality Project

Wardle Academy’s  Watergrove Virtual Reality Project (WVRP) team has met for the first time to plan and organise their inaugural project, the digitising of the marvellous models of our locality made by Arnold Wade and made available to us through the kindness of the Wardle and Smallbridge Local History Group.

The Watergrove Trust’s Dave Leonard and Mark Slocombe reached out to Ian Nairn, CEO of the prestigious C-Learning organisation, which is part of the Delling Cloud group, who enlisted the support and expertise of father and son Virtual Reality pioneers Keith and George Kenyon.

Generously donating their time, this group scoped the project, whereby the models will be digitised in 3D, so that members of the Watergrove Trust schools and the local community will be able to don VR headsets and walk together through the sunken Watergrove village, immortalised through Arnold Wade’s painstaking modelling.

The first model has been digitised and now expert learners at Wardle Academy, under the guidance of Head of Computing, Andrew Wright, will undertake the work of digitising the rest of the Watergrove village model.  Gantt charts, moodboards, mind maps, research, and the organisation of teams are all in process ready for a productive and exciting several months ahead.
